JACOB RAEDER, “MOCHE,” 2010-2018, Ceramic with lightbulb, 24” x 8” x 12”

JACOB RAEDER LEARNED THE DISCIPLINE OF CRAFT WHILE DOUBLE MAJORING AT ALFRED UNIVERSITY IN ART AND PHILOSOPHY. HE SCRAMBLED HIS MIND TRACING THE TRAJECTORIES OF CONTEMPORARY EUROPEAN DESIGN AS A FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR TO THE NETHERLANDS, AND SET OFF FIRECRACKERS AT THE SAIC WHILE GETTING HIS MFA IN CERAMICS.

HE HAS EXHIBITED, TAUGHT, AND PARTICIPATED IN ARTIST RESIDENCIES ALL OVER THE WORLD, PROMULGATING THE VIEW OF AN EXPANDED FIELDS OF CERAMICS THAT ENCOMPASSES A 21ST CENTURY CONCEPTION OF A MATERIALLY ENGAGED MAKER NOT BEHOLDEN TO A SINGLE MEDIUM.
